Vista Aero impact on loop

I may be wrong, but I've got a observation that may just be a "duh"...

Previous install was XP Pro Sp2 with the hardware in my sig (see below). Idle temps were consistently 25-28C on the cool cores, and 28-31C on the hot side. With the GPU still left at stock speeds I'm seeing an increase in the overall system loop temp after installing Vista, and running the Aero desktop. Now idle is 28-31C for the cool side, and 31-35C for the hot.

(DDC+ pump with Acrylic top mod -> BIP II-> Apogee GT -> BI GT 120 -> Maze4 -> 3.5 res ->pump)

Does Aero really drive GPU processes enough to raise a system loop by 4C overall, or is there an issue with CoreTemp not reading correctly in Vista?

Knowing that Aero is a fully rendered 3D environment, I can understand that it's driving the GPU harder, but enough for 4C to the entire loop?
