Is surprisingly good...

Got my 4870x2 and it seemed to have issues with artifacting and crashing Vista 64... it didn't seem to perform like it should in a lot of games. I sent it to Visiontek on the hunch that it was defective, 1 week later they shipped me a new card (without telling me, but I can tell by the ship date, they had my card for ~5 days) and I received a new one. Only reason I can tell is because mine had a broken pin off the heatsink (Came that way from NCIX) and this one doesn't.

Unless they just replaced the heatsink which would piss me off... but I haven't even gotten a chance to test it yet... Currently got a GTX 280 in my system, might swap it out though...

The only downside was paying $10 for shipping back to me, but honestly I don't mind if I get service like that all the time... Not even 2 weeks since I shipped it to them, Even though I did ship it overnight

do visiontek gpu's have to be registered for lifetime warranty i own 4~4870's 512mb version 2 I'm keeping and 2 I will be selling on the forums here as soon as I get enough posts to list :)

Nope, just need to include a photocopy of your receipt. which I almost forgot... had the box sealed up and went "o-shit" right before I walked out the door, opened it, slipped the receipt in and taped it back up... hah...

I do not believe it will transfer though, so unless your name/addy is on the receipt you won't get support.

But because my billing address/shipping address was the same on everything they were fine with it.

I purchased mine locally so there is no name/address on the receipt just amount paid and method of payment. Thanks for the quick reply, and glad to hear you had a great experience with their tech support!

I doubt it'd be much of an issue honestly. I never really got many questions asked, which is how I like it :)

Blazestorm...if you do decide to swap out the 280 and test the 4870X2 will you please stop back by and post your impressions as to whether there is a night and day difference between the two or if the improvements are just minor?

These are the two cards I'm trying to decide between purchasing, have to make up my mind by next week, and any feedback you could provide would be appreciated.

Haha... well I had the 4870x2, I think it was defective (I guess visiontek thought so too cause they replaced mine... atleast I believe) Then I bought a GTX280 cause it was the best single core/single card solution...

So I may swap it back in... I just hate driver cleaning/formatting cause I swapped a video card...
