Hi Guys,
After my long ordeal with Visiontek and they're RMA department I can't really recommend them.
I had a 4870x2 that started locking up in games. Swapped with another card no more lock ups.
Sent that card back to Visiontek, they send me another card, no messages or notes of what happened to the card I sent them until I inquired, to which they said "It didn't display video"; weird it did on two systems for me but wtv.
Second card is worse for me, than the one I sent them. Can't even boot with it in the system.
RMA- second card
Third Card shows up, this one works as long as you don't install drivers. As soon as you drive the card, BSOD.
RMA - 3rd card
4th card shows and works well enough for me to be happy. But I know it is still not right, as in Battlefield 2 it will sometimes lock up if I don't run the fan's at 60%.
I know it isn't the other components in my system because I went and bought a 5770 and never had a crash. I used a customers PC i was building, everything brand new and with plenty of power to push the 4870x2.
Rather than RMA the 4th card for a random hard to reproduce crash, I'll keep it and run at 60% fans, or buy another 5770 and CF to replace.
Bottom line they don't really test the cards they're RMA-ing, they send to you for testing.
Granted they did continue to RMA the cards for me, its not fun riding out 3-4 months to get a "working" card. This on a product that has a lifetime warranty and was 600+ when purchased.
my 2 cents
