Visio Standard Practices

I'm just getting into a deeper understanding of networking, starting from practically square one (just started reading CCNA books, etc.), and realized where I work we don't have a single thing about our different networks documented. In an effort to further my understanding of everything, I wanted to document the networks and associated devices.

When doing this in Visio, are there any standard practices I should be aware of? The way things should be laid out, nomenclature, etc... I'd like to do this right the first time around. Any tips/tricks/etc?

Thanks in advance for your help!

While there is no hard and fast standard that I am aware of, there are tons of examples available that can give you some ideas. It boils down to the target audience. I've done high level diagrams for management that have basic, easy to understand labels and I have done down in the weeds, label each port on a 96-port switch cabling diagram with VLAN, MAC addresses, etc.

Here is a quick resource. The Cisco topology link there does not appear to be working. This is the correct one.
