I have norton antivirus and just did a full system scan it took a whopping 3 hours 39 minutes 57 seconds. Is it me or is that a really long time? is their a way to speed the virus scan up without compromising security?

scanned ~3/4 million files (723460 to be exact)
2 hds:
total size/free space
152/40
189/16
(you do the math)

That sounds reasonable, based on how long it takes me to do a full scan of fileservers. To speed it up, you can exclude certain files you know are clean, example, MP3, video, etc. Stuff that is never executed. True, someone could rename a virus to one of these types or insert a virus, but you can always check after downloading. The repeated scans aren't really useful to stop pre-tampered files.

for one thing those hard drives are hella huge. You kindda have way to many files on there.

Deleting the files is not an anti-virus solution.
