Hey guys, I've been getting some serious popups lately. I looked in my startup and I've got a NvCpl program starting up even after I disable it. It says it's location is in the system32 folder which is what is making me nervous.

I've read the NvCpl is normally a Nvidia control panel, but since it's located system32 folder it could be a virus/malware/whatever.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

nvcpl is located in the system32 folder because it is a part of the driver. It is required for the driver to work properly I believe.

I doubt it's that file....it's a common one for nVidia drivers...which are quite popular.

Have you scanned with some good antivirus and antimalware programs?

Antivir
MalwareBytes
SuperAntispyware
Spybot S&D
etc

I'm in agreeance with the last 2 posts. Could add AdAware to the list of programs to run.

I actually had AntiVir and went into safemode to uninstall it. It was locking up my computer. I'll try and redownload it now as well as spybot and adaware
