virtualized pfsence on file server?

hey all, I have a Supermicro atom D510 MB with 4 gb ram.

I am already running WHS on it, but decided to change to a Linux based server os. so I wanted to know if I was to run a Debian based fileserver, would my hardware be good enough to also run a virtualized pfsence?

Currently I run pfsense on an old IBM thinkpad X41t Pentium M758 lv 1.5 ghz w/ 1.5 gb ram, and a pcmcia nic. all on a fios 35/35 connection. and it seems to work fine. at least I dont have any speed or latency issues.

so I am thinking that even with it running on a slower setup, having the much better nic's will make up for it in less CPU overhead and what not.

anyways you all think I can do this and not have an issue?
