Virtual Surround Software - does a real difference or insignificant ???

The virtual surround software like SBX or DHT or Dolby Headphone if used with a good Hi-Fi headphone give a good and real advantages to detecting the sound positions compared to a good stereo source ( like a good DAC ) ?
Specially in FPS games.

Im buying a sound card ( Creative SB-Z ) only for this but i must to know if the difference is much noticeable or only tiny thing.

I have not a good HP now ( the Fidelio X2 will arrive after 2 week.
 
try razer's surround product, its free and will at least give you the idea of what you are looking at.
