i have adobe acrobat for my pc, but not mac, and need it for my mac, can i just open an exe with virtual pc? also, are there any freeware copies of it, or anything like that, ot am i gunna be spending the $$

Because, you know, you can just download Acrobat Reader for free.

Anyways, yes, when running virtual PC (and windows) you can just open a .exe file. It'll run slower, but then again, Acrobat isn't exactly the most processor intensive program in the world.

It isn't? Last time I checked other than raw HD speed and raw CPU speed, not much else affected Distiller. It can easily take up to several minutes depending on file size to create a PDF in Distiller. And that is on a dual Athlon with 2GB of RAM, 10K RAID 0 and Distiller 6. If it is just reader, well that is dumb, there is a free version like Mpython said, not to mention preview can be used to view PDF's last time I checked.
 
Acrobat is an absolutely deplorable format IMO. But you should me able to bungle about with under Virtual PC.

It's slow, unstable and generally a little clunky. It's there when you absolutely have to have it, but I wouldn't rely on it or use it habitually. It's also not that cheap.

I guess you could call it "so so"
 
I haven't had any real bugs or issues with it other than being slow...I only use it when I need to see iTunes or QT for the PC as it is easier than trying to track down a lab cart so I would also say it is so so and will really depend on what you want to do with it
