Just used IMAX as an example, really talking about any virtual large screen effect using some sort of advanced optics in goggles.
It seems like there should not be some technical reason it is impossible. The eyes are the same size and simply take in and register light. What is the big difference from the light emanating from a real imax screen or something closer to your eyes creating a virtually identical experience in terms of what you see?
the light vectors? Why could a display not simulate the incidence of light that would make it virtually identical to seeing a large screen from afar?
We know how to play crude tricks with light, ala true color holograms, so why not something more mundane, but equally useful like more portable (and likely cheaper) virtual large screen displays.
To sum it up, how feasible is it to simulate large screens and resolution on a type of head mounted display. People with more technical knowledge please chime in, and let me know if what is being asked is technically problematic for some reason.
(i.e. eye fatigue from using current iterations of head mounted displays - any way around this?)
