Oh look, it's another "violent video games are evil" article! :rolleyes:

Allowing children to play video games with violent fighting could affect their mental state and spur boys in particular to become violent, psychologists have warned. Dr Nilar Kyu, a professor who heads the Psychology Department at Yangon University, said: “As an effect of media, children usually follow what they see through TV channels. For example, suicide cases could happen if they see two friends commit suicide because they love each other so much.

Reading CNN.com i far worse than violent video games. Keep those kids on the console!
 
Well, violent games have saved me from killing many a family member since I can take my frustrations out in a virtual world.
 
It's an article from Myanmar, a country well known for iron fisted control over its people. How credible can it be?

This guy's just spouting off without any research whatsoever to back him up. However, he does speak to common sense... I see they do things differently in Myanmar. ;)

Violent games are just the scape goat failing parents use when their kid does something. Yet you ask them who bought the game and let them play it they will say they did. Complete joke to blame a game that is rated M when a 12 year old imitates the game.
 
I think that years of playing violent games helped bring more Libertarians and had a hand in making bitcoins. I wouldn't be surprised if it was behind some of the awful things Google does these days too. So yeah, pretty much the three worst things that happened to human civilization since it started recording history are closely related.
 
Young children should not play,watch or read violent mature material period, My son did not watch R rated movies or play GTA type games till he was 16, and even then it was a big deal. The problem is, some people are unable to differentiate certain types behavior, some due to chemical imbalance or a brain abnormality, but in some cases i believe childhood environment can be a factor. Are these MO riots because of violent video games about looting and rioting? A strong nurturing childhood usually makes a normal compassionate adult, but in some cases as in chemical imbalance or brain abnormality its just not enough. Its just easy to blame the video game industry, like blaming guns. Guns do not kill people, people kill people.
 
Watch politicians long enough and one will become a scheming, thieving, asshole (or bitch) based on that psychologist's opinion.
 
I need to get more caffeine this morning ... I first read it as Violet games cause mental problems and thought that too many pastel colors do indeed drive one batty :D
 
I think the important point everybody is missing is that they have COMPUTERS in MYANMAR(Burma)...welcome to the 21st Century Myanmar !
