does any one know if you can do designs with vinyl dye like paint? like base coat then mask or does it spread like a marker on paper?

I went to Oreilly's auto parts and found a spray can of Vinyl Dye. It set me back about 5 bucks and worked perfectly.

It's rather thin and will be hard to mask a clean edge. Especially if there is any texture.

I've managed to mask with good results. Use decent low tack tape, and make sure you press it down firmly along the edges. Try not to overlap the tape either as where it drops down slightly from being on top of the first piece it may leave a slight gap allowing the sye to seep under. If you do have to, run your fingernail along the edge of the overlap to push it down as firmly as possible.

Good luck :)
