Viewsonic VX924 for gaming?

Anybody have experience or knowledge of the Viewsonic VX924 LCD for gaming? Specs are Contrast ratio 550, Brightness 270, Response time 3ms gray to gray, 5ms white-black-white. It's my understanding that Response time is whats critical for gaming more than the other specs. I would like to transition to an LCD to clear my desktop space, is this a good monitor to choose? Thanks

Thanks Deetox, sounds ugly. What did you end up doing? This is my first LCD also, not sure I like'em. Are CRT'S still the way to go for gaming?
 
Ya if you're a serious gamer and want the best experience from your games then you should definetly stick with CRT's. Clearly the VX924 is a bad apple and there are much better LCD's out there but even without backlight issues they still aren't good enough IMO. Not only did i find myself hating the limited resolution i also found ghosting to be quite noticeable. A bit better than on my dads 12ms Sony LCD but no question it was there and annoyed me.

Anyhow i ended up buying a used 22" CRT and am very happy with it, games look amazing and have no issues whatsoever. :)

I don't think the VX924 is a bad apple, despite your experience. There are just too many positive user experiences reported, as well as rave reviews on its gaming. The negative aspects commented on it have nothng to do with its gaming. They delve with narrower than desired viewing angle, DVD playback (for most reviewers though not all), and the ergonomics. One other issue is that a number of reviewers received a poor pre-release unit that had some color issues as well. BeHardware reports on this, and then compares with the release version they received later.

Still, it won't be as fast as a CRT, there is no doubt about it. On the other hand, my soon-to-be-replaced 17-inch CRT already takes up a lot of space on my desk, and I could never fit a larger CRT here without simply taking up the entire desk space.

I've chosen to go with the newly released VP930b, which is the successor to the VP191b (the 8 ms version had been almost unanimously judged the best all-round 19-inch LCD on the market), and am sure I'll enjoy its size and regained desk space.
