I just discovered that there are at least two versions of the ViewSonic VX2235wm. I just bought another one because the one I had was defective and found some slight differences. The biggest difference is that one is made in China 09/06 and the other in Taiwan 10/06.

These are the specs off the boxes:

Product Dimension
528x483x244(mm)
20.8x19x9.6(in.)
Carton Dimension
575x535x172(mm)
22.6x21.1x6.8(in)
Net weight: 6.8kg (15 lb.)
Gross weight: 9.2kg (20.3 lb.)
Made in China

Product Dimension
524x482x244(mm)
20.6x19x9.6(in.)
Carton Dimension
575x522x150(mm)
22.6x20.5x5.9(in)
Net weight: 6.0kg (13.2 lb.)
Gross weight: 7.5kg (16.5 lb.)
Made in Taiwan

I actually weighed the two on a scale and the Taiwanese one is indeed 2 lbs lighter!

Other differences: (China/Taiwan)
Model # (Found in Information menu): VS11446/VS11349
Standby light: Amber/Orange
Adjustments: More steps/Less steps
Adjustment display: Numerical values/No numerical values
Packing: Placed perpendicular/at angles
Cables: Cheaper/Nicer
Rear Inputs: More together/Spread out, audio in center separately.

I have no idea whether they use the same panels or not. I have no intention of opening the units. Picture quality seems similar though colors look a bit different. I just thought you guys might want to know.

Hi there. I have a ViewSonic VX2245wm and would like to unmount the stand so I can transport it into my suitcase. I don't know if it is the same way as you have done with the VX2235wm version, but I would guess the only difference is inputs/outputs connections on the base. Anyway, just wondering if you could post a howto here, since I could't find anywhere else 'till now.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it's going to work for the 2245, but here are the instructions for the 2235. There are instructions included in the manual, but they are rather unclear.

Look at the back of the Monitor panel. At the bottom, locate two wing shaped plastic covers on either side and remove them. They are a bit tricky to remove without breaking the tabs, so I would recommend you do this CAREFULLY! I found working from the middle outwards to work the best. Once you have removed the "wings" you should see 3 or 4 screws attached to the base on either side. Remove these screws and remove the base. I would recommend replacing the screws so that you have the screws if you want to replace the base later. Then replace the "wings". That's it. The hard part is identifying and removing the "wings". Good luck!
