I am one of the many that suffer from the DVI dying on this monitor. DVI-Recover used to bring it back to life but the EDID data in the monitor corrupts everytime I turn on my computer. I got an RMA number for the monitor but they want me to ship it out (at my expense) and they said it would take 14 days to fix or replace it. This is completely ridiculous as I cannot go 1/2 a month without a monitor (its my only one). Is there any other way to RMA this monitor that isnt ridiculous or get my money back? I bought it from buy.com in May (i cannot RMA from there). :(

Ask them if they can do an RMA where they ship you the replacement (you have to give them your credit card) and then when you receive it you ship them the monitor. When they receive it, they remove the hold for the cost of the monitor that they put on your CC.

Some companies will do this, dont know about Viewsonic.

had the problem too, just disconnect everything, unplug it all
(pc too) and wait a few min. try it again after and it should work.

Ask them about advanced replacement. I'm on day 15 waiting for my RMA'd monitor to come back. I called yesterday, and the said they were waiting for new units to be manufactured so they could send me a new replacement. They said it could be a few days to a few weeks for they could send it out.

They then offered to send me a refurbished monitor in the next 2-3 days. Ugh.

I also got the same problem. But I heard that Viewsonic knows about the problem and is working on a firmware to fix it. Try doing what SpeedZealot said to do. Thats how I got my DVI to work.

I believe I am also having the same problems, but I followed the instructions over here and so far so good for today. I have yet to restart my machine or turn the LCD off for an extended period of time, but it seems stable now.

Here are the steps from the above post.

Power down (the monitor)
Hold 2
Power up
Now wait a sec... the power button goes to amber -- this is the hidden mode, and the screen comes up
Now press 1 for the usual options, and you'll see an "F" added at the bottom
Arrow down to the "F", and press select (2), and you'll get into the menu with the items I listed above
Use the normal arrows / 1 / 2 to navigate
Monitor powers down on Factory Reset
Exits factory mode on power down/up.

I did a factory reset and it seems to be working fine. I have a x700 Pro PCIE card using DVI btw!
