Even the newest nvidia official driver, 91.31, doesn't seems to fix the monitor scaling problem 7900 has with the VX2025wm. I am still getting out of range with anything other than montior scaling.

There's an option in the advance timing part of the (classic) control panel, called flat panel scaling, and changing the value there will also change the "Digital Flat Panel Settings" setting, without immediately giving me "Out of Range" error. However, switching resolution to 1024x768 will still be out of range.

I also tried the new control panel. I tried adding custom timing to both 1680x1050 and 1024x768, and at one point, I manage to get 1024x768 to display at the top left of the monitor, but the other part just flicker badly. Kind of scary :)

Anyone found a solution yet? Is there any software that can do fixed aspect scaling without depending on the video card or the monitor?

I am dissapointed that this issue hasn't been fixed yet with the nVidia drivers.

I don't know if it's a driver problem or a monitor problem.

Try making sure your monitor is plugged into your first dvi port (they are marked 1 and 2). I had this problem to with my 7600gt then I switched ports and now everything scales perfectly.

This does not work with the 7900 series boards (at least not the 7900GT). In port 1 when you try to select any of the scaling options besides 'Monitor scaling' the monitor will display 'Out of Range'. In port 2 the scaling options simply have no effect whatsoever.
