I'm in desperate need of a new monitor and have spent ages searching and comparing various models. My ideal monitor doesn't exist so it's a matter of finding a compromise I live with for now.

Good image and text quality are paramount as I spend a lot of time in front of the monitor. Gaming is also important, so I've been looking at monitors with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution. I've a single GTX-1070. I don't play competitive FPS games so the limitation of 60fps @ 60Hz is one I can live with, as long as it has a respectable response time.

ViewSonic recently released the VP2771, which looks like a pretty nice monitor for general use. It's a 27" WQHD resolution @ 60Hz display and lacks any form of adaptive sync. The OSD does have some "game modes" to minimize lag. It has modern connectivity including USB 3.1 ports ( types A, B, and C), supports chaining monitors and KVM. What do you think? At least on paper, is this a decent buy ~ $520? If not, is there something else I should be looking at (in the 27-32" range)?

I've never owned a ViewSonic. How are they in terms of QC, support (ease of warranty/repair), etc?

* No curved, G-Sync, or anything by ASUS (have two Asus monitors and don't want another. Ever).
 
I am also thinking about buying this one too. I do photo editing but I also do some gaming. No experience with Viewsonic either though. The Dell U2715H seems to be well regarded in terms of image quality an responsiveness, and is slightly less expensive at 450 dollars, but I have never used it myself.

On Edit: going through Amazon reviews, the Dell has something of a panel lottery in terms of uniformity (I guess it is not just AUO's G-sync monitors) and it does not have the internal hardware the Viewsonic does. The Viewsonic may be a better buy even if there are no reviews on it.

Assuming the VP2771 is much like the VP2770-LED, it's probably going to be an amazing monitor. I think the VP2770-LED was/is considered one of the best professional monitors with fairly accurate colors with nothing but the factory calibration, low input delay, no PWM, etc.
