Hi I just got a VP201s and it is hooked up with a DVI cable to my X800XT PE. I get artifacts in the form of white flickering horizontal lines.

Enabling the "Reduce DVI frequency" and "Alternate DVI frequency" options in the ATI drivers does significantly reduce the problem, but it still happens in 3D games, and only when the screen has significant black areas.

Has anybody encountered a similar problem and how did you fix this? Could it be the cable? I already re-installed all the drivers and checked the connections of the cable.

Thanks for your help!

I had mine doing the same thing. The blacks also had blue lines all over. I reduced DVI frequency also, but it made gameplay choppy. While I had the monitor I rebult the PC replacing everything except the power supply and the problem persisted. There were much less corruption with another PC however, leading me to believe it COULD be the power supply.

Another thing to look at is the cable. I was using a 5 metre DVI cable. I hooked up the standard cable for a minute or so and didn't see any corruption. I didn't use the standard cable for long enough to be able to say it the cable for sure, but trying out a better quality one may help.

I hope my ramblings are of use.

Thanks for your input. I tried using the VGA cable and the problem doesn't happen then, but the picture quality is a bit blurry in Windows... I guess I'll try another DVI cable at some point, but for now I can live with it since it really doesn't happen that often..

Mine had the corruption all the time. All the black on this forum page was a mess of flashing blue lines!

So artifacting is what it's called :) ok ok

so did buying a better cable ever fix the problem for you?

This is double post, but I think it's more important for this thread too since it under the VP201s (b) topic Hopefully you solved your problem already, but if not, try this:

I THINK I solved my problem (intially looking for not extensive testing)

First in CCC (for ATI cards obviously) Make sure under...digital panel (I think that's what it's called since I'm at work right now) Make sure Image scaling is set to centered and not stretched. That helped out ALOT but still was present.

My 3D overide refresh rate was disabled, so I turned it on to "desktop" and that seemed to clear it up.

I also made sure vsync is on in the control panel (On unless application states otherwise)
So far it looks like it is completely gone.

So at least for VP201B users with ATI cards, try the above solution.
