viewsonic vp201 light leakage

Hi to all,

I just purchased the viewsonic vp201 monitor and in general I am happy, but there is a little light leakage in the left corner. I can only see it at night. I just want to ask, if this is normal or should I exchange the monitor. BTW I have no dead pixels.
I am just wondering, since I read somewhere that any light leakage in lcd should not occure and if it does, it is a manufacturing defect. Correct me if I'm wrong. I already read all the posts regarding viewsonic vp201 on this forum, and I have seen some horrible leakage pictures posted there, mine is not as bad, not even close, but it does bother me a little. So, the main question is:
is this normal for lcd to have any kind of leakage or no?
If I remember correctly one of you did not have any leakage at all.
Please let me know, I still have a few days to exchange the monitor.

BTW I had Samsung 172x and in my opinion Viewsonic vp201 is much better. :D

well, larger lcd monitors have a higher risk of light leakage. (dead pixel rate for that matter)
I have a dell 2001fp and I've exchanged it more than 7 times without any luck. So I decided to stick with the last one because I got fed up.

This is totally dependant on what you want to do. If you do indeed exchange it for a new one, there is a slight chance it wont have that problem but you might end up with one that has a dead pixel or two.

But if it were me, I would stick with the one you have. Because dead pixels are a much bigger sore to the eye than the light leakage (which only occurs on dark backgrounds).
You'll definitely get used to it in a week or so.

how about the extensive hours of use (4 to 6 hours a day). will the leakage get any worse after few months?
