Viewsonic ve710s vs. Dell 2001fp

I saw a viewsonic 17in VE710S LCD and the screen looked very bright with good colors. There was some ghosting apparent when I move the mouse cursor back and forth rapidly. Scrolling text or files up and down the page looks quite good with minimal blur.

Enabling Clear Type made the text a bit thicker and it was very clear. I didn't notice any screen door effect.

Has anyone seen and tried out both the viewsonic 17in ve710s LCD and the Dell 2001fp?

Does the Dell 2001fp look as good as the viewsonic ve710s?
The ve701s is rated at 16ms, but I don't know if the dell is faster even though it is also rated at 16ms.

I have never seen a 20.1in LCD monitor anywhere so I cannot compare it to the 17in viewsonic. IF someone has seen both, please tell me how they compare.

The VE710s is not really comparable to the FP2001 as it is a completely different screen. The comparable viewsonic is the VP201B (or s). Your going to be hard pressed ot find someone who has used the Two and compared them as there isn't much of a reason to compare them as they are in a different class.

What are the specs on the VE710...response time in particular.
 
There is no comparison.... The dell 2001fp blows away the 17" viewsonic.... In terms of performance and features and price... plus 1600 by 1200... the viewsonic 17inch will never do that...
 
Both the Viewsonic ve710s and 2001fp are rated at 16ms, but the rating
doesn't tell the full story. Moving the mouse rapidly on the ve710s has
ghosting which can be seen on a white backgrund. Does this also happen on
the 2001fp? Is it better or worse?

People have complained that the 2001fp has the screen door effect, but I
didn't notice it on the viewsonic. Maybe the viewsonic screen door effect is
the same as that on the 2001fp, so if I can't see it on the ve710s, then I
won't see it on the 2001fp either.

The 2001fp also has a "dusty" look to the screen. This is something I did
not find on the viewsonic. The viewsonic looked very bright and clear. Is
the "dusty" look the the 2001fp comparable to the viewsonic, or is the
viewsonic more clear and doesn't suffer from the "dusty" look?

I have never owned an LCD monitor. I just saw the viewsonic ve710s at the
store, and thought it looked really good. The response time could be better,
and I'm hoping someone who has used both the viewsonic and 2001fp can tell me
that the 2001fp has less ghosting, and that the 2001fp's screen is as clear
and sharp as the viewsonic.
 
I have notice none or very little ghosting on the dell 2001fp... I think that for the money the dell is much better buy... The dusty look meaning the non-glare coating they used to stop reflective light on the screen when you view it near sunlight... It has been perfect for me... I am may sound biased when I own 2 of them but I would never have bought my second one if the first one wasn't up to par...
