as you can see, the color on this thing is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. it looks so beautiful compared to my old crt. And for those of you who play AA and have a video card with Digital Vibrance, you will fall in love ten times over

CONTINUED: (sorry for the wait)

now, the packaging that it came in was great. had two styrofoam cushions + plastic wrapping around the monitor and base and also a screen protector. This packaging was great imo, i simply threw the thing back into the plastic bag, slapped on the styrofoam sides, put it in the box and took it to a lan. Everything was perfectly fine when it came out. no scratches, no nothing, looked exactly the same. It also came with a vga cable AND a DVI cable, thats about 30 bucks there u just saved.

Right out of the box, first thing i noticed is that it was big. very big compared to my old Samsung Syncmaster 753df (19" CRT). This lcd has saved a huge amount of space AND its bigger! what more could u ask for?
onward to the techy stuff!

first game i loaded up was counter strike 1.6 and it was running at a res of 1024x768 and it was HORRIBLE!!! the best way to run any game on this screen is at its native resolution of 1680x1050. I have not tried to find anything that allows you to run at a smaller non-ws resoltuion with black bars because I simply switched it over to widescreen (under the options in the menu) and have left it like that. However, for those of you who play games w/o native widescreen support, I advise you to check this link out WideScreen gaming forum and see if you can get a tweak/hack for your game over there.

Under anything that is pretty much a non 16:10 aspect ratio, the ghosting is pretty bad on this monitor as it stretches the image to fill the screen. If you play a game that is not ws supported, i highly advise you to get a tweak for it, but if there isnt one, well, sux for u :p Ghosting under the native resolution was visible to me right when i made the switch. After playing with it for about 1.5 months, the ghosting is still there but only to a miniscule amount and i have easily adapted to it. The ghosting does not affect my gameplay at all for any of you who are wondering.

Backlighting, yup, its there. THere is a small amount of disoriented lighting in the upper left corner and the bottom center of the screen. It is noticeable in nearly pure black screens, but I don't think many of you look at black screens all day :D However, i must say that i'm impressed that it has 0, yes count em, 0 dead pixels :)

Other stuff is the thing that it is slightly lacking. Although it does come with both cables, the rotational accesibility of the display is limited. It only allows the user to tilt forward or backward. No side to side (making the screen vertical) and no height adjustmet. This is something that the Dell 2005fpw has and something im sure alot of people like.

Overall, this thing really rocks. I got it as a christmas/early birthday gift in january when it was on sale for 400 bucks at costco and it was worth everypenny. As of now, the Dell 2005fpw is slightly more (about 40 bucks more) and is very popular amongst people and I can see why. It seems to be a very good competitor for the Dell 2005fpw though I am not exactly sure what the pricing is.
If anyone has any questions/comments, please feel free to post
thanks

Haha, I had read just the first part and was wondering "Is that what he calls a 'review?'"

Pretty good writeup :)
