This thing's cooked, right? Any ideas what might have happened?
A month ago, my PT795's screen went black, and the LED went from its normal green (signifying full power) to an alternating amber and green, something I've never seen before (powersave mode is a solid amber).
At that time, power cycling cleared the problem, but a few weeks later it happened
again, and this time for good.
Symptoms:
1) When turned on, the monitor makes its normal loud sound, but the screen
is always black no matter what.
2) When hooked to a working PC, the monitor's LED alternates between amber
and green at a half-second internal.
3) The monitor no longer gets warm-hot, which it always did when on.
4) OSD is inaccessible as there's no picture.
5) USB ports still work.
I've eliminated all other variables, such as the PC and cable.
I've also opened it up and blew some dust out of it (there wasn't much) and checked for obvious things such as bad connections. Didn't see anything.
The Viewsonic PT795 is an aperture-grille type, and it's been in use since
1999.
Thanks
