Viewsonic P95F+B or NEC FE991SB?

I can't decide b/w these two monitors:

Viewsonmic P95F+B

Before stating your opinion, i have a question. If the FE991SB can "only" run 1280x1024@85hz, and i want to play games at 1600x1200, does that mean the refresh rate will be lower when i run games at 1600x1200? Or do these #### x #### @ ##Hz only apply to things running on the desktop like Word or IE or whatever?

P.S. I only plan on having my desktop resolution at 1280x1024...
 
You can look at on the manufacturers site for the monitor to see all of the maximum refresh rates for each resolution. It doesn't matter what you have your desktop set at because 1600x1200 will only refresh at the speed your monitor can handle. Most likely its 75Hz or less.

I would get the Mitsubishi DP930SB myself. Its the best 19" you can buy for gaming. The maximum refresh rate at 1600x1200 for it is 88Hz. It costs $257 at Newegg.
 
yeah its max supported is 1600x1200 @ 75Hz...that isnt bad, is it? 75hz won't give you any migraines or whatever, will it?
 
If I had to choose go with the viewsonic...it seems better in everyway. Higher refresh, lower dot pitch, and lower price.

Although, I really like the suggetion of the Mitsubishi DP930SB. I've heard so many good things about it, I'm ordering one at the end of this week.
 
I would get the one that can do the higher refresh rate. This will ensure that when using a lower resolution than the max the image will be clearer. Horizontal Khz and bandwidth(dot clock) are important when choosing monitors.
 
Well I have bought both a Viewsonic P95F+b(lack) and a NEC FP912SB, and I like the NEC much better. It's sharper imo. My brother agrees with me. I use both at 1600x1200
 
i decided to get a DP930SB that i found refurbished, i have yet to order it, but hopefully it won't go away within the next couple days...i hope it works well.

I am very unsatisfied by the quality of the P95f+ at 1600x1200, I wound up just using 1280x1024, because I am cursed with sharp eyes. i would be the Mitsu 930, period, unless you want to spend ALOT more money.

Yeah, to tell you the truth it does get annoying, I just started using it at this resolution and it's just not as good as the NEC..but 1280x1024 is just unbearable for me now! Pretty soon I am going to need a 21 incher :)
 
I do agree about the P95F+B at 1600x1200 in Windows. The text is a tad blurry, but it's still legible. The color on this monitor, even it high resolutions, is exceptional. I just got it tonight, but I ran Q3A at 2048x1536, UT2K3 at 1600x1200, and BF:1942 at 2048x1536 and all of these games looked superb with 8X AF. This monitor might cause me to lay down another $400 for an X800XT or 6800GT.
