Viewsonic P225F?

Run it at 1280x960, which is the correct res for a CRT anyway. 1280x1024 is 5:4 and distorts the picture.

I have the Viewsonic p225f monitor. 21 inch 4:3 screen makes for a sweet CRT display. Rich colors, deep blacks, the images always look fantastic. As far as resolution the recommended setting in the users manual is 1600 X 1200 @ 80hz. However the monitor will display at 2048 X 1536 @ 75hz.

I am currently playing Age of Conan and I can run the game in either resolution and the game looks stunning. I usually play in 1600 X 1200 because I get better frame rates and the UI is larger. In 2048 X 1536 the text, icons and maps are very small.

I really don't think a LCD could match this display. There is absolutely no flutter at all at either 75hz or 80hz. The image on screen will not fade when I shift in my chair like my LCD did. Some people are sold on LCD displays but I am not one of them. I think the top of the line CRTs to be superior, and they can be found cheap since it is abandon technology.
