Viewsonic E90F Fluctuating brightness

My monitor has been acting really strange lately.

I noticed it becoming a bit darker a while ago, so I adjusted the brightness higher, and was happy for a while.

Now, the monitor can be really dark for certain periods of time (with brightness and contrast @ max), then suddenly it'll pick up, and become extremely bright, as it used to be when new, with Brightness and contrast maxed. It can stay bright for as long as an hour sometimes, then it can go back to being really dark for another hour.

1- Can I somehow fix this myself?
2- If not, is it worth it taking it to a repair center and getting it fixed (warranty expired)? I may even need to ship it since I don't know anywhere around here that repairs screens.
