Viewing Angles

Due to my lack of knowledge on the subject, can someone please elaborate on the issue of viewing angles?

I know that the picture dims as you look at it from various angles, but who cares if you sit in front of the screen? I know viewing angles are an issue with movie watching where people are looking on from different angles, but I'm reading a lot of posts on here and people are bringing up the issue of viewing angles for computer displays?

Cheers.

Doesn't bother me either. I have a neoflex stand and easily swivel/tilt the monitor if I want to watch a movie from my bed (computer is in the same room). Even if I had an OLED monitor I would still swivel/tilt it in the same way.

Like Matija said, the problem is when you get angle issues even when looking
at the display straight on. Sometimes it can be so bad that one one side of the monitor always looks significantly different then the other.

Yep, bad viewing angles are a problem even if you sit directly in front of the screen. I bought my first TN monitor not knowing this and as much as I tried getting used to it the screen always being darker at the top and brighter at the bottom drove me nuts. Personally, I don't mind slightly washed out colors and lower contrast of TN screens but their vertical viewing angles are simply unnaceptable to me and I always sit right in front of the screen.

I don't mind TN that much (I see it, but I don't pull my hair because of the viewing angles - they are fine for what I do at work), but PVA just creeps me out and gives me serious headaches quickly.

It can be bad enough that i actually bring the TV tuner window lower coz the upper edge makes movies too dark.

Remember that even when you look at the monitor dead on, the outer edges are actually angled away from you. Especially if you have a large monitor.

There's a big difference between you (as in your body) and your eyes...
The eyes are only directly in front of a tiny little area on the screen.
