We have been using Flash Pool for a couple months now. I would like to see some metrics on it and how helpful it has been. What is the easiest way to do this? We use LogicMonitor for all our monitoring which uses SNMP and also has an account to log into the NetApp head and pull information from it. One of the metrics I was looking at to try and get an idea of how much these SSDs are doing was looking at the performance of a specific SSD. The busy time on the SSD probably only averages about 5%. Not sure it means anything, but I would think the caching would use up a bit more of the SSD.
I am also just trying to get an idea of which shelf performs better and can handle more IOPS. Here are the two shelves.
DS4323 - 24 - 15k - 600 GB SAS drives setup in a single aggregate with 2 DP-Raid groups, each raid group is 11 disks. Total drives 22 with 2 spares. Running on Head1
DS2246 - 18 - 10k - 900 GB SAS drives setup in a single aggregate with 1 DP-Raid group of 16 drives and two spares. 6 - 200 GB SSD, also DP-Raid with 1 spare. Size is 558 GB all used for Flash Pool. Running on Head2
So which shelf do you think would yield more performance and IOPS?
