welkl you have choices.. do you want quad core or do you want dual core.. the i7 is out of the question since its ddr2.. also that ram will do ddr2 1000mhz @ 5-5-5-18 2.1v so you have a little headroom.. some good choices are the e8400/8500/8600 for dual cores.. for quad cores you have the q9550/9650..
 
q6600 are cheap now too, but if you want to hit 3.6 grab an e8400 for cheap, most of those seem to hit 4ghz

q9650 and 9550 are still pretty pricey
 
if you dont care about dual or quad go with e8600, but personally i would go for the q6600. you may not hit 3.6 but its a great cpu
 
quad > Q9550, pricey then Q6600
dual > e8600, pricey then e8400
 
i know where you can get new in box e8500 e0 stepping for $150 shipped and/or q8400 new in box for $145 shipped.
