I am thinking about getting a new video card, but with all those numbers out there from the two different companies, I dont know where they stand in comparison. Can someone list the cards from nVidia and ATI in the order of their processing speed? A price to go with them would also be appreciated. (I know that some may be similar/disputed on which is better, just looking for a general hierarchy.) Thanks.

This thread has a pretty good breakdown on the cards: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=788386

The prices range pretty widely, though. Let me see if I've got it right:

x800 pro - Can start at $399, but is most likely sold for more than that on a lot of sites.
x800 pro vivo - Can start at around $450. I bought mine for $462 or so.
x800 xt-pe - Starts around $500+. Now they are upper 500s and into 600s. However, more than likely you will not receive the card because the release date has been pushed back many times.

6800nu - I've seen prices around $300 or less, but count on it being somewhere around $300.
6800gt - Usually starts around $399 like the x800pro.
6800ultra - $500+ like the xt-pe. This card is also very hard to find, but people have been getting them. Also, expect to pay over $600 with shipping and whatnot if you find it.

These prices are just estimates on my part. I know someone else knows the real prices, I just don't have time now to go out and get them. I would appreciate if someone followed up my post with real numbers. However, if you want an accurate gauge on the prices, go to http://www.pricegrabber.com or http://www.pricewatch.com

Now from top to bottom in order of strength (agp versions only)
6800 Ultra (tie with XTPE)
X800XTPE (tie with 6800 Ultra)
6800GT
X800pro
6800

In my opinion the 6800 ultra wins by default based on availability and also I feel that the 6800nu at sub $300 is a better buy than the X800pro at $400+. The performance difference is too small to justify the extra money if you ask me..
