I just can't take it anymore. When Crossfire works, it's great, but the games I play just don't support it. That's not really a fault of ATI I guess, but, I digress.

I ran 2x 4850's in Crossfire for a while. Got sick of the issues, sold one of the cards and went on my merry way. Then I saw the XFX 4850 for 40 bucks after MIR's deal, and I could not pass it up. Now, that 4850 is defective and I am going to have to start the warranty process. I will be selling the card they return back to me, along with my other 4850 as well, at this point.

I have that 28inch Hans-G re branded monitor coming in tomorrow. Anyone suggest a SINGLE GPU solution for me, I'm not sure if the 4850 is going to have enough beef to it to handle 1900x1200. If this assumption is incorrect, please let me know. I'd still like a very budget oriented single GPU solution though, red or green, it does not matter to me.

GTX 280 used (~$175) or 4890 new (~$150-220). That's the minimum I'd run at 1920x1200 were I buying right now.

um what games are you playing? if crossfire is not supported then I am guessing they are older game that would run fine on a single 4850. but to answer your question a good single GPU card depends on what your playing. right now bang for the buck the 4870/90 followed by the GTX260/275 are the upper end good value cards. performance wise the high end 4890OC and the GTX275/285. again what are you playing?

Thanks for the help guys. I decided to still do a bit of an upgrade anyhow and bought a used XFX 4890 XXX Edition from a member here. I will be selling my original 4850, and my RMA'd 4850 when it comes in and will hopefully break even.
