noob question....

card in sig. Nice for everything but notably better at higher resolutions. I used to play all my games at 10*7 and recently, I've been playing DOD:S. Now 10*7 looks fine but a little jittery with everything maxed in control panel (application controlled and quality) and in game is 2/8--max everything else.

The weird thing to me is that 1280*10XX seem way more fluid. Now I know these cards are made for higher res' but I thought that lower res' would play even more smooth.

Is this normal?

let me reword things a bit.

Is is normal to feel your games run smoother at higher res' than lower ones? Especially when in theory lower resolutions should play smoother if anything than higher ones..right?

I think it is normal... although it doesn't make sense. I think it all depends on many many factors... your hardware, software, the game.. I have noticed things like that also where some games seem to run better at certain resolutions than other, even lower resolutions. Can't explain it, but if it feels better at a higher resolution, then enjoy it.

If the game is being bottlenecked somewhere else like your CPU, then the GPU may have enough leftover power to render the higher resolution without a noticable performance hit too. For example, for me, Half-Life 2 is bottlenecked by my CPU speed, I can change the resolution around with it barely affects my FPS.
