Video Problems with 6800GT

Recently I have been having a problem playing videos of any type on my desktop machine. I first noticed it when i put the Xtreme-G Modified Forceware Drivers v77.62. The video seemed to be very washed out. I tried messing with using different video players to no avail. I also uinstalled the divx codec and put version 6 on. Still, no dice. So now that the v77.72 forceware comes out, I decide to put that on. Now it got worse. Now the colors seem inverted or something to that effect, with a pattern of green dots on the video. So I'm clueless as to why this is happening. What makes it even weirder is the fact that I'm running the Xtreme-G 77.62s on my laptop and I've had no problems. So I'm really lost at this point.
 
nvidia control panel
color correction
color profile: advanced mode
apply color changes to: all
hit apply.
 
Aw darn, I just reverted back to the 71.89s and video playback is fine now. May I ask WTF?

Pandora's Box: I didn't see the post until after i replaced the driver. Perhaps I will try your suggestion.
 
UPDATE: well pandora, that worked, thanks a lot. Can you explain exactly why that occured and why changing the color settings to advanced resolved it? Thanks, I was just curious.

im not entirely sure, but my guess would be that in the driver somewhere one of the preset profiles has an extremely high value for gamma in videos. setting to advanced mode and applying to all overrides the problem.
