I've got a video issue that I need help with. For reference, I have an nVidia 8800 GTX connected to an NEC LCD2690WUXi on a Win 7 x64 machine.
At some point earlier this year, I started to get what look like flocks of birds in different parts of my screen. When they first appeared, on a dark background, they were green - on a light background, they were magenta. They occasionally flickered. They went away eventually, and periodically came back.
Now they're back in different locations, and they are either blue or yellow depending on the background color.
At first I thought it was the monitor going bad, but switching inputs with another system caused the problem to go away, so it was not the monitor. I thought it might be the video card or cable - but tonight, on a whim, I ran a test I thought for certain would fail. I figured I would take a screen shot and see if the anomolies showed up in the screen shot.
And they did! They're in the screen shot. What does this mean? What is the source of the problem?
