Video playback stutter.

My old box had this issue... when playing back a video file <format didn't matter> it would just pause the video for a moment every now and then. I considered it was the drive but the problem followed to my current drive <in diff system>

My old box..
Tbird 1.4
512 2100 mem
ati 9000pro 64meg video card.
6x dvdrom drive
40gb 7200RPM HDD.


I am soon to make it a running box again. It was running win2k with recent updates. Just a very old OS install that had been through several updates. Probably going to make it a red hat or suse install this time around on an 5gig drive.

Just wanted to get some input.
 
Definately sounds like a driver problem.. especially when it comes to video problems. OR it could also be the player you are viewing the video in. If you have not tried a different player, then it would be wise to.

Or something somewhere in the OS might be corrupt, so it's a good idea to boot up a Knoppix or bootable Linux and run a file in there.. that way you will know if it's actual hardware problems or not.

If it's none of that.. then I have no idea. GL at any rate.
