Video file with a seperate subtitle file ?

I downloaded a foreign film that is in Spanish and it has an included english subtitle .SRT file. I'm wondering how I can use the subtitles with the movie?

cancel that. i just opened the video file in divx uses it automatically

Some plays support external subs (MPC-HC), some decoders do (ffdshow), etc. Could mux the srt file into an mkv and use a compatible splitter that supports subs (Haali Media Splitter) in conjuction with a suitable subtitle renderer.
