Video Editing, Video Cards

When I'm editing video, or compiling pictures and music into a slideshow, would the power of my video card make it easier on my computer to encode the compilation into a movie file? Or is it really an issue of RAM (besides processor and such)?

Also, would switching my SWAP file to my bigger partition help?
 
Converting requires pure Processor work, and then RAM power. The video card has nothing to do with encoding.
Thats why, when people are looking for video editing machines, people say Pentium 4, because it is better at video editing than the AMD's, due to pure architecture design

I know Pentiums are better, but I didn't build my computer for video editing. I'm just compiling a video slideshow from my trip in Ireland
