Hi,

I'm fairly new to video editing ('fairly' as in I've toyed with Movie Maker, iMovie and a little of Adobe premiere before).

I just wana know which program is worth me investing my time to get good in (ie. the one the pros use!)

I have a Mac G5 and a P4 PC at my disposal so I should be able to run pro apps well enough.

Any recommendations between Final Cut Pro (5), Adobe Premiere (1.5) or any others (the more 'pro' the better!)

I'm going to invest in a 1080i HDV Sony Camcorder so HD support is a must. On that note, one question about the camera ( http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProd...=odw_en_GB&pageType=Overview&category=CAM+HDV ) can it shoot in 16:9 widescreen?

I'm going to be shooting a lot of biking footage (going on a road trip to the Alps :) ) and all the off-the-shelf videos have a lot of very smooth looking sloo-mo. Do you need a high speed camera or can I get away with 15FPS for slow-mo?

Thanks all!

a lot of places use FCP now.

As for HD, i know FCP can do it, as long as your machine can keep up.

Don't know about premiere, but last I looked it did not support HD content.

I think Premiere Pro 1.5 supports HD content, but not too sure. I started editing with premiere pro, despite its steep learning curve, the more you venture into it the more you learn. I found it pretty easy to use after a while and it worked great for my purposes (just some movies for classes)

I think final cut pro is industry standard. at least that is according to my video editing guru buddy.
