A friend's computer is on the fritz. He has an Asus 9600pro, only a month old with like 60 hours of run time. Just recently the video even in the bios has lines through it. The mouse pointer and icons in windows have small lines around them. But when entering the bios or the Sata screen during boot sequence they go away. Any ideas?

Maybe the video drivers?Try reinstalling them or reformatting.Try also to put a fan on it(the vid card)

Mine started doing that not long before it died. First time it happened, it went away and I didn't see the problem again for a good while. Next time it happened was the day after a major storm when my system had been left on and the problem never went away. Actually, the main thing that killed the card was me, but, it was clear the lines had become permanent.

I suspect it may be wise to step down the overclocking just a bit. I suspect that was what permanently messed up my card.

Be sure the heatsink is on there good and everything of course. Just, it may be too late if there is already some sort of damage to the card.
