Anyone know of a free video converter that will convert .FLV (Flash Video) to another format (like .avi)? Open Source projects preferred.

Do note that you're probably going to see some quality loss when you're converting.

That's a given, unless you're either only changing the container or converting to a lossless format.

Koyotesoft.com and download the free FLV converter. It is one of the best free FLV converters out there. Also, you can check under downloads section on CNET.com

Oh look... yet another tool stealing ffmpeg.

As much as I disagree with people violating GPL, these individuals are infringing on the copyright, not stealing

Stealing implies that the original owner of an item no longer has it in their possession. This is not the case when a license is violated.

Unless he's just noting that he has already answered the post with his suggestion of ffmpeg, and the others are ffmpeg at the core anyway.

Using ffmpeg in your program for most of the functionality without crediting it and selling it for a profit (without giving any proceedes to the ffmpeg devs) would be considered stealing.

Where do you see him selling the software in question?

Crediting it isn't the problem in question - failing to release the source of the software in question is. This is a violation of ffmpeg's license, which makes it copyright infringement. But not stealing.
