Ok well I dont have alot of money I recently built a custom computer and I want to change the
Video card.

I currently have a Nivida 5700 FX Ultra 128mb/128bit

I was thinking of getting a Nivida 6800 12 piplines 128 mb/256bit or sohuld I save up for a 6800gt 256 mb/256 bit

Also how much performance gain will there be between my nivida 5700 ultra to a 6800?

Thanks

Any other suggustions are welcome and no I dont have enough for a 6800 ultra.

a very large performance gain.....
i would save up for the BFG 6800GTOC

how much are you wanting to spend on a video card? if on a budget I would at least try and strive for a 6800gt.

And you will see huge performance increases.

I would deffinently go with a 6800, maybe even save up for a while and go with a 6800GT, up to you.
BTW, what processor do you have?

I read on tomshardware or somewhere that they where selling for 299 in some places, is this just a rumour or true?

Im not looking to spend 400 keep it like in the 200-300 range

P4 3.2 ghz HT enabled and...

I have 3500 1gb or ram if this helps any what my performance should be like...

Also I have one more question my tempature shows my comp running at 29-31.5 *c and 45 *c when playing ut2004 ... Is this normal?

I have 6 fans ......

If your wondering where I got the name my first comp was an AMD Autentic

ok ok...

sorry thanks lol

Well, with that proc i wouldnt woory about bottlenecks, i would just get the best the you can afford, which is the 6800.
Leadtek is about $300 and they have an all copper cooler, which should make it a good OCer

this may sound dumb but will I see better graphics and fps then the 9800 xt 256 mb/256 bit

with the 6800 128mb/256bit?

I edited it you may want to look again.
I want my comp to last me about 4 years or so.
yes, i would still go with the 6800, the 9800xts are well overpriced right now

Ok thanks...

Do you know of any benchmarks sites becuase evertime I search for one of the 6800 i get the ultra...

If I was you I would save up the extra $100 and get the GT, If not I would just settle for the $170 9800pro 256bit 128 meg card to tide me over until I could get a 6800gt or x800pro.

I'll think I'll wait for the gt, does anyone know where these cards can be found under 400?

Like 350 or lower?

bump up!

Considering the high demand for the GT's and Pro's it wont be any time soon. There both turning out to be kick butt cards for there price.

GT's are readily available at the evga web site. Here is what i would do i were you. Get the 6800 form evga now, they have a 90 day step program that will give you what you paid for the 6800 toward a 6800gt if you do it withing 90 days. You can have fun while you save the difference.

So what your saying if i pay 299 for the 6800 i only have to pay 100 for the gt?

You have to register the card then when your ready you register for step up with the 90 days ,they send an email explaining whats next (send old card back) and wack you the 100 on your card , they recieve you old card and verify its not fried and then send you the upgrade.................that simple...........you select how fast shipping will be
