Hello.

I have been looking at buying a 7870 for bitcoin mining, On the AMD page it says the minimum system ram is 4gb, I was wondering why this is? Would the card run with less system ram? I would eventually have two 7870s in an AMD based DDR3 system.

I bought a 4870 today and i'm getting a measly 78 mhps but it did only cost me £35 /$50

Please don't bash me saying GPU mining is dead, i need an ASIC etc, this is just a little project for me.

Thanks in advance!

Its not dead, but you are late to the party to make the cost of buying anything worth it.

do not worry about that... AMD probably lists a minimum requirement so users who have crap systems don't complain about how the video card didn't make things any faster, or something like that... if you check this: This requirement at sapphire you will notice that only 1GB its minimum requirement.... so maybe should state that a 4GB RAM recomended for maximum benefit and enjoyment experience.. not care about that sht requirement.. :) just buy the card and enjoy without any worry.
