Hello! I live in New Zealand, I'm very jealous of the State's competitive pricing on ZZF / Newegg.
I hear that XFX have great warranty service. When I look at the warranty stuff on XFX products on Newegg, it normally says double lifetime/lifetime or something fantastic
If I look at the warranty on NZ sites, they normally state that there is a 2 year warranty.
I was hoping to see if you could tell me if XFX would honor the double life time warranty if I purchase an ATi 5870 from NZ

Gosh that really sucks. That means that there's no benefit for purchasing XFX. What if I purchase from the egg and get it shipped (by some shipping forwarding company) to NZ?
I'm looking into getting stuff forwarded from the states to NZ because the pricing of stuff in NZ is outrageous. But I'm curious if the warranties of the things I have shipped to NZ will void the warranty or something..

My alternative would be to simply purchase from NZ etailers. How well does Sapphire rate in warranty honouring? or even customer services?

as a reseller myself, I think Saphire is ok, but would go with XFX or usually the best value is HIS. XFX have dropped there prices over here though...and are now inline with the cheapest brands.
The problem you'll have with the whole shipping/warranty thing is that you need to register the product online....once they find out, or if they find out your true location..your warranty will more than likely cut back to the Aust/NZ region of 2yrs.
Another thing worth noting is that most other brands now offer a 2 year warranty..so that's why XFX have priced to compete with everything over here.
Even XFX 4870 1Gb's can be had for around $AUS180 here! which is actually cheaper than Gigabyte.

Yoy0YO I also live in NZ (SI Timaru region) and we get stuffed on the warranty and availability. I work in a small computer shop and none of our suppliers have any 5870 and it could be quite a way away. not only that but the retail pricing over here is probably leaps and bounds above what those from the states have to pay.

you could do that.. but you would have to use some one in the states to RMA the card..

eg. buy it from new egg.. have it shipped to some one in the states.. have them ship it to you.. then have that person in the states register the card.. if you want to rma it ship it to that person and have them send it to XFX.. its a pain in the ass.. but thats the only way you would get the warranty honored if you bought it from newegg..

so in the end with all the extra cost.. pretty much equals out to what you would pay in NZ..

btw if you have any US military bases in NZ or Australia.. you can have some one on base order it for you.. since they are able to order from newegg..

*sigh* You guys at [H] are really helpful.
Its quite repulsive how awfully priced things are in NZ.
the starting prices of the 5870's are on the egg are
379.99 USD = 528.356 NZD

The cheapest that I can see from NZ start at 688 NZD.

Well, they're doing only 2 years in every store in NZ. May as well buy it from the states

Too true.

Holy shit, I was doing a net trawl and saw that amazon sell the 5870's at 379.99 too! AND they ship internationally! New plan! buy from amazon!
Any body ever bought things from AMAZON b4? any thing to watch out for?

alas, it seems your right, you guys outside of north america really are getting shafted:
XFXforce.com said:
*Double Lifetime Protection only available in North America (United States and Canada). See XFX Support section for more details on the Limited Warranty for XFX-branded products in North America

thats really annoying...

I hear Gainward has a standard 3 year warranty with half decent international support, and of course Visiontek offers a lifetime warranty in print, but there are horror stories over these boards.

Your next best bet is gigabyte IMHO. in the graphics department they are the industry standard; 3 year period for parts and labour, 3 week+ turn around time, but I've yet to hear them refuse anyone on something I would deem unfair.

if it makes you feel any better, I'm a canadian, CAD:USD is $1:$0.91, thus $379.99 should be $413, but the cheapest you can get em up here is $450, and thats before the 12% GST/PST the gov will put on it. Everyone seems to focus solely on the yanks Q_Q
