Greetings folks,

I hate to ask this, but have always appreciated the advice of my fellow [H] members. I'm currently using an 8800GTS KO and would like to upgrade to an ATI 4870 or 4870X2 ( will also be upgrading to a Quad-Core). I skipped the last generation in hopes to return to using ATI.

I'm curious to know if the 4870 is a wiser purchase over the 4870X2? I had it set in my mind that I was going to go with the 4870X2, but am starting to rethink waiting for it. I have an SFF case and Micro mobo so I can't go Crossfire. Hence why I was considering the 4870X2.

Thanks! :D

The single-GPU cards will be released on June 25th, so we'll see reviews on the HD 4850 and HD 4870 then. Rumors have the HD 4870x2 coming out in August. Anyway, with only a 20" monitor, I'm guessing you won't need the HD 4870x2, and that the HD 4870 will be fine.

The reviews next week should let you know for sure.
