Just got an GTX 260 off ebay in the mail today. Took out my 9800 GTX and put in the GTX 260. Then booted into windows using what looks like the generic vga driver and windows said it was installing the needed software. Why would it need to install anything? I already had Nvidia drivers loaded for my 9800 GTX. I also ran driver sweeper. So windows loads its stuff and asks to be rebooted. Windows reboots and prompts me to login. Resolution and color is back to normal. After login the screen I get a bunch of artifacts and windows freezes up. After a while it blue screens. It now blue screens in both safe mode and regular mode. Shut down the machine pulled the GTX 260, put the 9800 GTX back in. Now I get blue screens with both cards. The only way I could get back the normal was to use a restore point. Everything is back to normal using the 9800 GTX. I want to try the GTX 260 again, I am wondering if I got a bad card. Did the driver windows load get corrupted and keep windows from loading?
