Video card trashed?

Hi all,

I think my video card has trashed itself. After having been on for awhile I started seeing purple vertical lines spaced about an inch apart on my monitor. I then was unable to reboot into either safe mode or normal windows Vista. Also during the bootup the words and letters on the post screen were garbled on one side. So I shut the computer down for awhile and upon restarting the garbling went away but i still can not boot..it is hanging up whenever I either try safe mode or normal. I get the first boot page with the progress bar and the green lines over the Microsoft corporation logo, but then it goes blank and hangs up on the boot. After I let it sit for awhile like this I start to see purple dots and the like...it also sometimes flashes a blue screen with a bunch of error messages but it goes away so quickly I can only read about a word or two before it reboots!

Has anyone seen this? Does anyone think it could be something else?

Thanks for any help given!

re-seat your card check that dust isn't blocking the fans, if that fails probably the card is trashed. This is typical behaviour of a failed/cooked gpu. Specs would help.
