What would you guys like to see, we are entertaining suggestions from you guys, tell us what you want to see tested and evaluated as it pertains to video cards and gaming performance. We are looking to see what kind of things you guys would be interested in us testing, keep in mind the goal is to create short 1-3 page articles as we've been doing lately and keep providing relevant material to our readers.

Note, we are looking for new content suggestions, new things you guys want us to test, compare, evaluate in regards to video cards that we can write 1-3 page articles on, not suggestions about what to include in our standard card evaluations.

I'm interested in having Eyefinity numbers included in reviews. Preferably 22" screens (that's what I have) but whatever else will work.

-Eyefinity/NVSurround as a standard benchmark (where else but [H] can you find that data?)

-Buying guides, like the psu recommendations for SLI/Crossfire setups. That was awesome.

-Overclocking tests. Take a reference Nvidia vs a Reference BrandX, and then run comparisons at 5%OC, 10%OC, 15%OC, etc.

-Cooling configurations of video cards. By dropping it 5 degrees we saw this, by 10 degrees we saw that, etc. Here is what we did to drop the temperature.

-Tweaking of Nvidia's SLI tool to optimize SLI performance.

Can't think of more atm...you do a great job :)
 
Not really a graphics card specific issue, but someone on another thread mentioned dual versus tri channel memory impact on games. I'd be interested in that.

And maybe Physx performance with different combinations of cards - like, is it worth it to put that old 9800GTX in as a Physx card vs selling it.
 
an overclocked CPU has more of an affect then Tri vs dual channel stuff (talking less then 1% even when the ram is overclocked)
 
For seperate articles and not in reviews right??? First thing that came to mind was the whole psu/video card buzzing thing. What causes it, who it affects, how to tell between that and a noisy fan, and current and future solutions ( like that psu with the filtering caps on the pci-e cables). GPU Memory bandwidth and how it affects current cards/scaling. Why games are still being released without proper anti-aliasing. That sort of thing.
 
i love that to be done really the Buzzing and Noisy fans on Video cards (i guess PSUs as well) are Not unacceptable cards to me

as i have had Asus 9800GT darknight and an basic palit gtx460 card and they suck once the fan starts to spin up as the Motor made more noise then the air (the 9800gt dark night was horrid as it was noisy at idle and it was not even hot) as the GTX480 470 noise was Far overblown as both cards are quieter then an gtx460

ATI (5850 in this case) problem Buzzy chokes when moving page using the mouse on the scroll on pages like i am on now

I cant sell cards that buzz or turn to pc into an machine shop (motor noise)
 
How about instead reviewing higher end graphic cards, you review lower end one, like HD 5570 or even 5450 and review the game performance versus some popular games, like SCII or WoW or something.

I see more and more requests for budget gaming computers (mainly SCII and WoW or something), and I would like to bolster my knowledge of GPUs that can handle those games.

See here, windwithme reviewed the 5570, but he did not release on what basis he measured the fps in SC2. Looking at the screenshots, I see that he went off by the fps marker on the left side... with no in game testing? :confused:

I own a GTX 260, which you agree that should have absolutely no problem handling SC2 at any resolution or settings, but I have encountered situations where there are a lot of units on the map and the fps drops. This happened in 3v3 where all 6 players had a full army, and two players had motherships... windwithme review is very inaccurate in that regard that it "can handle SCII with very good frames".

Oh, one more thing... if you are going to use SC2 and its replay viewer as a benchmark, it would be great if you included the replay file as a downloadable file so readers could test it out themselves.

RAM memory bandwidth has little to no performance issues with modern computers (2006 and beyond).


Could you show us some pics of your testing setup? It could make the reader feel more like they're in the testing room with you guys. ;)
 
To go thirds on the RAM speed testing suggestions, I'd like to get even more basic. A quick perusal of newegg RAM prices shows some of the cheapest 2x2GB sets being $75 for 4GB DDR3 1066 and $70 after MIR for 4GB DDR3 1600, while the 3x2GB sets run a bit more, starting at $120 or so for 1333 or 1066 sets, and it's quite easy to spend much more than that on RAM.

So what I'd like to know is, does spending more than $75 for your RAM make any difference at all for gaming?
 
Because overclocking type things are in the site title, overclocking with different methods. I'd like to see some Liquid vs. Liquid ontop of peltier units vs. Fancy air cooling vs whatever, to see what method helps the most to push things in game (no LN, suicide runs that crap is meaningless) and which gives the best overhead.

Maybe a card OC tutorial/methods? Would stop people buying factory OC cards so quickly.

Also external vs internal exhaust case/card tempretures.

Maybe the difference between brands of cards, though that woudn't be as easy to do because every card is individually different and a sample of one isn't going to show definiteve results.

More Open GL games in benchmarks. Quake II used in benchmarks. 1000fps benchmarks. Old ass games running very very fast to see the effects of frame rate have on games at higher levels. I don't know.

Folding? It's probably stupid for ATI vs Nvidia untill ATI get their act together, but something like which are the best cards for the job. Would be a good promotion for the [H] team or something, and the folding cause in general. Maybe include fireGL/Quadro (tesla?). Something more GPGPU.
 
I would like to see some new tests on a Hydra motherboard using new BIOS and drivers. It doesn't seem anybody has really tested this since January. Any comparisons to SLI and Crossfire would be nice. As many card combinations as you can come up with would be nice (even 3-way or 4-way tests).
 
highest playable settings on 16x10 1080p/19x12 and 25x16 as well as eyefinity/nv surround
