What I do is open up my temp in the NV control panel
and sensor panel in Everest
Place them at the right of my screen as small as possible
then open rthdribl as large as I can and let it run for an hour
I can immediatly tell the temps and all under stress.
rthdribl will also show artifacts or the like if you have Ovdlk problems or temp issues
 
thanks, I got another thread out but maybe you can help me with this problem, I installed a NV silencer on my 6800gt and it took forever to get that thing to make good contact with the gpu I sanded the ram part on the copper base and now it fits right on like it should but I took a bit too much off one or two of the ram parts on the copper base so there is a hair sized gap (only on 1 or 2) is that going to give me a problem?
also after I got the gpu to make good contact my temps are down alomost 10 degrees and I get a better auto detect overclock on both the ram and gpu. what do you think.
 
Yea I had a silencer on it before going H20
Had the first rev where each of the mem areas had raised plates.
Nothing fit right
So I lapped the crap outta it
and used AS5 on the GPU and Cerimique on the Vram
The reason was that Cerimique isn't conductive and I did a comparison using AS5 and the big C on the mem and found that the Cerimique had better heat transfer where not so good contact was made
Don't remember exact temp numbers but they were like yours
The thing really worked well
As far as using the auto detect, I heard you should run it several times to get an accurate reading.
I always start with rasing the GPU manually and running rthdribl to see if the card is slowing down or artifacting from to high an Ovclk
Then I'll raise the mem
The worst that will happen is you'll see artifacts or the card will under clock itself
Oh make sure you have the temp warning on in the NV control panel for safe keeping
 
well I just got done, I am not fvcking with this this anymore! I got good contact with the GPU but the rams are a different story, a few of them have poor contact I put the thermal pads on them and I bet it wouldnt be hard to pul them out with the unit assembled.

I really need a strait answer, should I be worried about this poor contact? like I said there is contact but It aint the best, my temps
idle 50 (havent checked load yet)

If your vram is overheating you'll see artifacting
Run rthdribl and you'll see
Nothing to worry about though :)
 
thanks no artifacting, temps are good also, right now idles at 52 but last night it was at 50. I aint playing with it anymore 52 is good enough
