video card supported resolutions

When I do buy my new LCD, I need to make sure the new Nvidia video card I buy to go with it can support 1680x1050 resolution. The problem is that I can't find a list anywhere showing the resolutions that each of their cards support. I don't necessarily want the latest, greatest thing. In fact, I'd prefer the bare minimum card that can support this resolution with a DVI connection.

I'm no expert about this but from my past inexperience you shouldn't have much of problem getting a cheep card to run 1680x1050. I have an old system with a 5600 ultra, and I just built a system with a PC Chips board that had on board Intel graphics they both ran at the resolution.

I don't know what you plan to do with your system but I wouldn't get a really cheap card unless you have major budget issues. Reason being if you decide you want to play games or want to get Vista you'll be glad you have a little better card. But any way pretty much all "new" cards will run that res.

Thanks for the advice. Normally I wouldn't go for the "cheap card option", but in this case it is just going in my 6 year old desktop (which couldn't run Vista anyway) until I get around to buying a new Vista-ready tablet PC in the coming months. I'll probably keep my desktop and use it for certain things and would like to use the big LCD with it, but I'm just sick of my HUGE 19" CRT.

The LCD will be a nice external monitor for the small tablet.

going to newegg and selecting a video card then clickng specifications.......
