Hey folks. Long time no post but I find myself in need of assistance. The fan on my XFX Radeon 6890 starting making some awful whining sounds. No video issues, so the card is fine, just that the fan has gone bad (I installed it without proper ventilation...total n00b move). I contacted XFX support and I guess they don't offer the lifetime guarantee anymore. They even said they don't have that fan anymore. So, I find myself in need of a 75mm blower fan (ya know, the wheel shaped kind). Closest I could find online was slot coolers. Anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement? Thanks.

6890 isn't a real model, if you post the right model we can look and try to find a replacement for you.

Holy hell. Sorry, I'm hallucinating. Its the one in my sig, the 4890. Why I kept seeing a 6 I have no idea. Sorry!

Easiest thing to do is get a 3rd party GPU cooler like Zalman. As a bonus you'll be able to overclock it a fair bit especially if you get the aftermarket VRM cooler as well.

So, lubing the fan DID fix the issue for the time being. I will start looking into a new HS/F combo after Xmas. Thanks, guys.

"don't offer" the "lifetime" guarantee anymore

uhhhh, they don't get to decide that after they get your money

That is what I thought but according to the fine print, they can retroactively change their warranty, apparently. Of course, I might be miss remembering THAT as well since I can't even get the MODEL right...yeesh...

If you registered your card when you bought it then you should have the lifetime warranty. All of the older cards (before the 7000 series) still have lifetime warranties and come with a lifetime warranty if you buy a new one today. Sorry but you probably didn't register.

That is exactly it. Would have been good had I registered while it was still offered. Lame...
