hopefully someone will know what components i hve circled here ...as i do not
in the picture below is the Matrox G450

but on my card the circled components were damaged and removed .... but just to see if the card would still work i crossed the traces and the card posts up ... color is strange but i think thats cause of the missing parts .... I can get the parts i just need to know what they are. I always thought they were resistors but right now I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated

me thinks there are capacitors..i'm not an engineer but i've been around electronics a bit..and i dont have a clue as to how to figure out what kind of caps they are.. google vid card repair..i belive there are pple out there who test out and replace any component that is damaged on vidcards/mobos..

luck

Those cards are pretty crappy for anything other than 2D work. And even then they've since been replaced by faster and better technology.

Other than that those cost about $50 or less now.

Looks like some of the filtering ciruitry for the analog video output connectors. If so, the parts circled probably mirror the ones for the bottom connector. Like WillowHawk said, these are most likely Capacitors from the "C" in the location reference designator, but they also could be Resistors (R), Ferrite Beads (FB), or Inductors (L). As for the value.. you realy cant tell except by measuring. Some parts have numbers writen on them which corespond to the old resistor color code, or a simmilar color code for capacitors, but the actual color of the part itself for surface mount varries wildly, and alot of times the same part will be a different color between manufacturers or even batchs.

Anyways, if you think you got mad skills.... you can desolder the mirroring parts for the other connector, measure them with your multimeter, and reatach them, and maybe it will still work. Or you can just RMA the card, and tell them you have parts that have broken off.

Also caps are normaly open, so don't bridge the pads/traces for a cap. I know from experiance with the warenty repair I do with Cisco Catalyst 6500 series boards that many times a board will work fine without a decoupling capacitor (part of the power circuitry) But since these look like they are part of some analog filter for the video output, I doubt your going to get a good video signal without them.

Well thnx for the help, anyways after some testing with an ohm meter i figured tht the group of 3 are caps ( 1 ohm aka infnite) and the one by its self is a 1.8 M ohm resistor. So I am gonna replace the 1.8 and hope that corrects the color problem :D as right now with out any repairs the color white is kind of blueish

Just look at the markings beside the component.

C= cap (ie C1, C2, C3)
R=resistor
